Dead Island

In Dead Island the inventory is on a separate screen to the game play, when selected it covers the screen pausing the game and allowing you to use all of your items, The inventory allows you to repair broken items, select new items to use, drop or lose old items that you do not wish to carry anymore. The inventory allows you to view quests, skill sets for your character and gives you a map of the current area of the world you’re in, the inventory menu also lets you to view the server you are in if you are online e.g. lets you look at who is playing with you, the name of the other online players and the connection they have to the server. Without this inventory menu in Dead Island it would most certainly become impossible to survive in this zombie infested world, you need the inventory to select weapons view the condition of weapons and lets you see how many the items that can heal ,you, own.

Mercenaries 2 World In Flames

The inventory for Mercenaries 2 is named the PDA and it is viewed on a separate screen to the game play, you can use the PDA for various things in Mercenaries 2 such as Airstrikes, Vehicle deliveries and weapon deliveries, it also shows your location in the world with it having a map in the PDA; the map then can show your targets and the location of them and mini games that you can play in-game. The PDA shows you every item you own in mercenaries 2 and how many you have of that item. Without the PDA the world would become more dangerous and the game itself will become harder to play, the PDA is the most useful item in the game and it cannot be removed.  The PDA also can give you information on other characters in the game and can also give you hints and tips for easy game play for those beginners.
Here is what the PDA looks like
Fallout 3

In Fallout 3 the Inventory is a little device which sits on your wrist and it’s called the “pipboy”. The Pipboy allows you organize all of your items/belongings in-game, from weapons to clothing and also tells you how much you can carry whilst travelling in the apocalyptic wasteland. The Pipboy also allows you to upgrade particular parts of your characters personality such as speech and repairing items. The pipboy also allows you to check your characters health on-screen and tells you if you’re suffering from drug addictions or exposure to radioactive waste. The Pipboy is your main tool of survival in Fallout without it you would not have an inventory or a place to check your health, the Pipboy tells you as a survivor in Fallout everything you need to know to survive, it very much is your only reliable tool as its condition never deteriorates and seems to be indestructible. The Pipboy allows you check maps and places you have visited earlier in the game which then allows you to fast travel to those places you have already visited before and also tells you how people of the wasteland see you as a person e.g. some people may pose you as a threat but others may see you as a reliable ally and welcome you into their homes.

My name is Declan Metcalfe, I enjoy playing video games, drawing, playing football . I am currently studying Computer Game Design and I’m also studying the Cambridge Progression Award at Priestley College. My main passion is drawing as it allows me to show other people the idea’s that I have in my head, my goal is to be a Computer Game designer or to have some involvement in the computer gaming industry as I live and breathe gaming, if I’m not playing video games I’ll be drawing them or even creating my own ideas up.

I’m currently playing “Mercenaries 2 World in Flames” but my favourite game of all time and always will be is “Grand Theft Auto”.
